ELECTIVES

When choosing electives, students must meet the following requirements:

  1. Two credits are required from the following areas:
    • Arts Education
    • Practical and Applied Arts

    Note: These two credits may be from the same area or from two different areas and may be at the grade 10, 11 or 12 level.

  2. A second Social Science elective is required at the grade 11 or 12 level in addition to the Social Studies 30 course required at the grade 12 level.

 

GRADE STANDING

Grade 10 - minimum 8 credits
Grade 11 - minimum 16 credits
Grade 12 - minimum 24 credits - at least 5 of which shall be earned at the grade 12 level

MATHEMATICS

It is recommended that students disuss their mathematics choices with their mathematics teacher, guidance counsellor or school administration prior to or during the first year of their secondary program.

Listed below are some suggested guidelines for students who wish to complete all of the courses in the secondary mathematics program.

  1. For students wishing to take Calculus 30:
  2. Year 1: Semester 1: Mathematics 10
    Year 1: Semester 2: Mathematics 20
    Year 2: Semester 1: Mathematics A30
    Year 2: Semester 2: Mathematics B30
    Year 3: Semester 1: Mathematics C30
    Year 3: Semester 2: Calculus 30

  3. For students wishing to complete the regular program:
    Year 1: Semester 1: Mathematics 10
    Year 1: Semester 2: Mathematics 20
    Year 2: Semester 1: Mathematics A30
    Year 2: Semester 2: Mathematics B30
    Year 3: Semester 1: Mathematics C30

Again, to determine the best path for individual students, please discuss your program with school personnel.

Note: As a minimum requirement students may gradulate with two secondary level math credits. Example: Math 10 and Math 20 or General Math 11 and General Math 21.
