The MCS Library is an excellent resource for both research and recreational reading. The collection stands at over 12,000 volumes, with 21% Fiction, 20% Teacher-resource material and 59% Non-Fiction. There are also more than 50 subscriptions to magazines and newspapers available to students and staff. Also, during the year, the Library displays student projects and art work.
The Library's primary rule is: RESPECT OTHERS.
Library circulation has been automated since the fall of 1987 with a computer program that tracks the checking out and in of library materials to students and staff. The computer cataloging system started in the fall of 1993 using full MARC records. Students and staff can access the Library Catalog from any computer on the network and search for materials by Title, Author, Subject, Series, Keywords, etc. Titles can be selected into a "bookbag" and then a list may be printed.
Students and staff can also access their own Library info as to what books they have out, overdues and holds, as well as a history of books they have borrowed in the past.
The Library Computer Room houses 29 computers for student use. The computers are networked and allow printing to the two printers in the Library. Students must have a signed GSSD Informtion Technology Acceptable Use Agreement before they can access these computers.
