Cellphone Legislation School Announcement

(This is a public announcement from SGI Traffic Safety Promotion.)

Starting January 1, 2010, it will be against the law to use hand-held cellphones to talk, text, email or surf the Internet while driving.

The law also prohibits new drivers, meaning drivers in Saskatchewan's Graduated Driver's Licensing (GDL) program, from using cellphones of any type while operating a motor vehicle.

This law is needed as distracted driving is one of today's most serious road safety issues.

The penalty will be a $280 fine and four demerit points under SGI's Safe Driver Recognition and Driver Improvement programs.

As a creative teenager you can find many fun and interesting ways to spend $280.  I am sure paying a traffic fine is not one of them.
